Setting the correct frameset for Published maps

Symptoms

HTML maps in the library do not have the correct appearance.

Cause

The frameset is missing or configured incorrectly.

Solution:

Maps in HTML format are commonly published within a frameset using Visio's 'Host in Web page' functionality. This is usually configured dynamically as part of a publication, but can be configured through Visio. However, it should be noted that a manual configuration may be over-ridden by an automated publication's dynamic configuration. This configuration assumes Visio 2016, but would be similar in other versions.
  1. On the Server, run Visio.
  2. Create a new drawing by clicking on the New icon in Visio's toolbar by clicking on one of the offered templates.
  3. From Visio's menu, File > Save as.
  4. Select a location in which to save this temporary file.
  5. In the Dialog box, change the Save as Type to Web Page (*.htm;*.html).
  6. In the Save As dialog, click Publish....
  7. In the Save as Web Page dialog, click on the Advanced tab.
  8. To configure Host in Web Page, click on the ... button, browse to, and select the frameset file.
  9. To configure Style sheet, click on the ... button, browse to, and select the style sheet file.
  10. Click OK to close the Save as Web Page dialog, and complete the Save as Web Page action.

This will create a blank HTML export that can be deleted. The configuration should persist, as long as an automated publication does not override it.

NOTE:The identities of the frameset and style sheet files could be something like:
  • C:\Triaster\TriasterServer2011\TemporaryFiles\frameset.html
  • C:\Triaster\TriasterServer2011\PublicationFiles\publish.css
